It ain’t broke, but here’s how to fix Social Security

Monday, May 25th, 2015

The fact is that the Social Security Administration will deplete its funds by 2033 and that thereafter it will be able to pay only 70 percent of benefits.

U.S. Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ranger, and the Republican “No” Party and its pundits would have you believe you won’t receive a dime. They want you to believe the system will be flat broke and that our millions of retirees will be on the street very soon. I’ll leave you to decide whether he should be credited for creating the many fictions about Obamacare.

Here are some truths — facts — about Obamacare: There are 15 million Americans insured today who were NOT before the ACA and, of these, there are three times the number of white working families than black or Latino families. From the inception of the ACA its opponents have painted the program as one doomed to failure, one which would increase healthcare costs and eventually spiral out of control with disastrous consequences. These dire predictions have not occurred. The fact is that it is working! I know that many of you who were wrong about it are reluctant to admit it and you are far from alone.
